    Default Flounder Boat Upgrades

We also fabricated and installed a propeller brush gaurd and rudder for steering. The steering cable is too short to mount the wheel up front, so we mounted it as far forward as we could. We'll need to get a longer cable and move the wheel to a better location soon, but we can make this work for a while.

    So..... how's it work?
When I grow up I want to be, One of the harvesters of the sea. I think before my days are done, I want to be a fisherman.

That brings up the age old question "isn't it cheaper to just buy fish?" Of course it is, but where's the fun in that?

You are correct. I think when I get it like I want it, I'll find a better hull to put it all on.LOL

Overkiller, it steers like a motorcycle on wet ice. I think we'll add 2 more smaller rudders on either side of the larger one to see if that improves steering response. Right now you have to plan ahead pretty far when going slow. If the prop is spinning fast, then the steering becomes more responsive. BTW, it tops out at 4.3 mph on the fan alone. 26.9 mph with the outboard alone, and 31.6 with both running. That's with a load of 4 people.

I would have never thought of running the fan and outboard at the same time!! Genius!
