We also fabricated and installed a propeller brush gaurd and rudder for steering. The steering cable is too short to mount the wheel up front, so we mounted it as far forward as we could. We'll need to get a longer cable and move the wheel to a better location soon, but we can make this work for a while.

sweet! the fab. job is worth more than the boat.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

              So..... how's it work?
When I grow up I want to be, One of the harvesters of the sea. I think before my days are done, I want to be a fisherman.

That brings up the age old question "isn't it cheaper to just buy fish?" Of course it is, but where's the fun in that?

You are correct. I think when I get it like I want it, I'll find a better hull to put it all on.LOL

Overkiller, it steers like a motorcycle on wet ice. I think we'll add 2 more smaller rudders on either side of the larger one to see if that improves steering response. Right now you have to plan ahead pretty far when going slow. If the prop is spinning fast, then the steering becomes more responsive. BTW, it tops out at 4.3 mph on the fan alone. 26.9 mph with the outboard alone, and 31.6 with both running. That's with a load of 4 people.

I would have never thought of running the fan and outboard at the same time!! Genius!

Do you have weights on Starboard and Port Stern to throw out while in fan mode? They will stabilize the steering.Another thought would be to have the engine swivel or replace the Single rudder in center with two on the outside of the blade. Fabrication looks top notch nice work!!

Where did you locate the throttle cable?

The weights sounds like a good idea. I can see where it will add stability.

Rather than eliminating or moving the center mounted single rudder, we will be adding 2 smaller rudders on either side of the large one to help with steering response. Three rudders should get the job done! Of course we'll make it look cool by modifying the center rudder to eliminate overlap and unnecessary weight. Look for pics next week.

Shorty: The throttle cable came from Grainger. They offer them in various lengths.
