  • Welcomed Solitude

I went out solo a couple times over the weekend. I found plenty of reds in the marsh but the feeding window was short very early in the morning. The fish were also extra weary of my presence because of the look water levels. Lots count of the number of fish I spooked. On numerous occassions I would spot a crawler 75+ yards away but as I approached they rarely allowed me the opportunity to get close enough to make a cast. Caught a few reds, broke some off, and pulled the hooks on others. Overall it’s was a relaxing, tranquil weekend away from the chaotic constraints of everyday life.

    Nice!
Just out of curiosity, how far can a person cast with a fly rod?

Good casters can shoot 100' of fly line accurately which is all of the fly line on a reel. I can only cast 70'-80' with optimal conditions. 100' (or 33yds) is not a lot when comparing to conventional tackle but I rarely make more than a 30' shot to most of my fish.

I had a GoPro mounted behind me and had it set to take a picture every few seconds.

Perfect timing again! As a matter of fact I do. I'm heading south Thursday afternoon for SPI to target snook. Will be there all weekend. Hopefully I land the hog I lost last spring.

Gee, your photos are so nice-I find them peaceful and relaxing-almost like two martinis!! Thanks again.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary.
