  • Habaneros

Somebody tell me what to do with em.. pickle em? make jelly? Got a plant FULL of em and they're so hot I'm afraid to touch em to pick em. Have bunches of tobasco, jalapeno and serrano peppers too. Anybody got any good recipes?

You can put them in white vinegar and make a simple hot sauce.
I'll do the other peppers, but I had a bad experience with Habaneros when I was a teen in Mexico. I don't mess with them anymore.

You can also dry them and grind them up. My habaneros are loaded too along with my ghost pepper bushes.

I made a great sauce and marinade with mine:
          • About 12-15 (give or take...) Habanero peppers. Remove the seeds.
          • 1 can sliced peaches in light syrup.
          • 1 cup white vinegar
          • 1/4 cup molasses
          • 1/2 cup brown sugar
          • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
          • 2 tablespoons salt
          • 2 tablespoons paprika
          • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
          • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
          • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
          • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
          • 1/2 teaspoon allspice

Blend on high till sauced. Good for tortilla chips or a grilled chicken marinade

I did get the recipe off the web, but modified the recipe, cut down on the molasses. I still have a tub in the fridge. I'm about to harvest another batch of pappers and will make some more.

The wife does not like hot spices (competition, you know), but she loves this sauce.

Cut one in half and put it in a bottle of vodka. Makes awesome habanero infused drinks!
