  • Redfish Weekend...

FINALLY get to post a report! Haven't been on the island in months and was down Thursday night to fish Friday. Focussing on reds so didn't hit the water till 8:30ish and headed north to one of the lakes. White shrimp were everywhere...several landed in the boat with me. Threw pumpkin seed with char tail Norton Bull Minnow at 'em. Would simply wait out in the lake maybe 40 yards from the shore looking for them...when they showed themselves would ease up to them and cast...wound up hooking up 6 times with reds with 2 of them being 22 and 23 inches.

Had one flounder bite that I screwed up and he came unbuttoned at the boat and threw back two small specs.

On the pic you see the shadow of the new JRT pup on her first trip...she had a ball and said she wanted to go back.

Saturday was the tournament and met Bruce at the marina around 8...went into Snake cove and putzed around for two and half hours...he pulled a nice red on tops that let go at the boat and I caught one keeper spec and a couple rats. Headed in to get the tournament stuff ready...

Great weekend and thanks again to all who bought raffle tickets and auction items helping us raise money for the Shriners hospital...I'll pot up the dollar figures when I add it all up...and a special thanks to the band that showed up again as well as Sandy for tirelessly volunteering AGAIN to help us raise money.
