  • 10/25: Jones Lake

Yesterday was my daughter's 9th birthday so we loaded up and went fishing. We left Louis' about 7:15. It was a beautiful morning. We cut a long drift down the west shore of Jones Lake just north of the Diversionary Canal. She caught 2 undersized reds, a lovely stingray and a keeper trout on live shrimp and a popping cork. We had a good tide and lots of bait on the shoreline so I am honestly surprised we didn't do a little better. We tried a couple of mid bay reefs but there was no bait and we didn't stay long. We ran up the bayou to try a couple of flounder spots with no luck. My partner was ready to get to Bucees for a Dr Pepper Icee so we were off the water by noon. It was a wonderful day. I hope everybody had fun at the Redfish tourney. Sorry we didn't make it down for the weigh in.

Take a kid fishing. It'll change you.
