New to the forums and Galveston bay in general. Grew up fishing Matagorda and during college the back bays and bayous in Savannah Ga. Now that I'm grown, living in downtown Houston, and West bay is a short drive (good since balancing family and fishing seems to be an efficiency equation) I'm finding myself learning new territory.
I'm a firm believer in doing my part so I'll keep the fishing reports coming as often as I can and any advise is always greatly appreciated. Won't give up specifics to open leachers but PM me if you think I can help in any way. Now for the report.
Saturday October 4th: Beautiful day on the water. First time in West bay. Launched under the 2004 bridge per the advice of a friend. NE wind driving most of the bait out of the marsh. Worked the shorelines with a few random jigs. Chartreuse paddle tails and green rat'l'traps seemed to drive them crazy. Put a dent in a school of Sandys, one spec, and a few flounder. Broke the golden rule and left fish to find fish. Went looking for some Red fight but pushed our luck. Not much rod bending but the wife and neighbors didn't mind the food.
Good day all in all. Thanks for sharing the fish West Enders.
