On Wednesday I had a liver biopsy due to abnormal liver functions for the last half year. After the procedure, I asked the doctor about me fishing. His words hurt me more than the pain from the biopsy itself. I can't be anywhere near the water for 2 weeks. While it is understandable, it's going to be tough reading the reports of y'all limiting out while I can't do anything about it. :(

Gonna hit the dike manana around 830. Anyone else gonna be out? Went for about an hour wed around 11am. Fished my new spot on the channel side with my new bone super spook Jr and hooked up with 4 from 17"-20". Channel side was calm. Had a nice north wind, water was slight sandy green. Only hooked 4 as I said but had probably 20-25 blow ups. One of which had to be at least 25"-28". Sumbich came completely out the water and dove back in. And I hit it again today at about 830am. And to my liking, the topwater bite was on again. Fished about an hr or so and landed four more 17"+ including my two new personal bests 23.5" and a 24.5". I'll be at it again tomorrow before work. Whewwww I'm loving this topwater bite!!!!!! Good times and better dinner. Pan seared spec, with a lime cilantro cream sauce. YUM!!! Tight lines all.

Posting this on multiple sites to cover my bases, sorry if you've seen it on one of those "other" fishing forums:

Gents,

Bought this reel new a little over a year ago and have been extremely pleased with it; however, I've noticed recently that after a particularly good fight (or on some days a lot of casting) the side plate screws seem to come loose. I've read reviews from people who say they've had the same issue (with other Calcutta models also) so I was wondering if any of you have run into this issue?

If so, have you found anything to fix it? It doesn't matter how tight I screw them back in, they come loose after a bit of action. My worry is that I'll end up losing one of the screws, or worse that it is jeopardizing the internals since the housing won't be as tight as it should be. I spent too much money on this thing to have it crap out early due to a faulty design on Shimano's part. Also, before anyone asks - I always give my gear a good rinse when I get back to the dock/house - so I'm taking care of it, just worried that it might be getting more exposure than normal because of the screws coming loose.

Any advice you can provide is appreciated.

My daughter has a Girl Scout overnight function at Moody Gardens and since there's no dads allowed I'll be at the camp sight. I like surf fishing, but the few times i get to go i do most of it on Mustang Island and am not at all familiar with Galveston waters. I am not opposed to bay fishing. No yak but I do have small 1-man pontoon. We'll be there early June. Any tips, suggestions, or pointers? Thanks
