Me and oo7 drifted jones lake this afternoon and boxed 3 flounder. We really just went looking around as mike wanted to see where the diversionary canal was. The wind was stiff and heading right back to the house, so we just drifted the canal out all of the way to tiki. The water was already cleaning up from the weather last night so tomorrow should be great. All fish were caught dragging jigs slowly on the bottom.

The flounder weren't that impressive or I would have. lol
The one thing that I wished that I did get on film was an osprey that flew by with a mouse in his talons. Those birds are awesome!

That was pretty cool seeing that. Boom caught all of the fish BUT......I was the one that got them on the boat. Thanks again Boom. It's always an enjoyable trip when we go.

Jones is my favorite winter spot. Try the north and west shoreline for reds and trout out off the reefs.

Thanks for the report. Haven't had much luck there..Don't really know the layout of that place and kinda worried about running aground so I don't venture off there too much. Tried to wade a reef there in the early winter and sank to my knees in mud right when I got out of the boat

It is a tough area to wade....Lots of deep mud, but it holds fish and if you know where the reefs are and the deep holes in some of the back channels off the Div Canal, you can catch some goo fish in there in the winter. You can sometimes find reds tailing along the west shoreline. I fished there almost every week last winter and it is a great time to find all the structure.

I was mentioning to oo7 that it is almost time to throw some kayaks on the skiff for a little backwater adventure. We should put together a trip.

I think the time is here now and I'm game, only boat I have in Galveston now is my 15' OK. I got a set of racks for 2 for the truck also. I'm thinking about a Sunday paddle over to Sandy's camp at Titlum if anybody is interested.

I have a 21' carolina skiff that I can strap 3, or maybe 4 yaks to. I have an extra yak if someone is without and wants to try it.

No way I can be on the water before 11:00, but was thinking about Southshore coves ...inparticularly a far West mini cove that I have semi close access to. Caught them there last year in early March, and with this warm weather we've been having I've been wanting to go try. Let me know, we can drive down, I've got the racks and I'm planning on going.

Harborwalk is a private ramp only. I wish they would open it to the public now that Tiki is closed. The marina is open to the public by boat only though. Jones is a killer place to catch tons of Reds all season long. During the winter months it can produce some hefty Trout aswell. I have several from Jones in the 28 to 29" range, never busted 30 though. That diversionary Canal shoreline is an awesome wading spot fror Reds. During the fall the Flounder fishing is great too. Alot of bird action too during the fall. Just got to be careful navigating, its a very shallow bay. This use to be my back yard when I lived in Bayou Vista. Spent many many hours in this little bay. Summer time the personal water crafters can drive you nuts though LOL.

If the ramp at tiki is closed, you sure would think everyone would quit parking their empty trailers there. :D If anyone gets run off at teakwood, hollar and I will tell you where there is a ramp at my place down there.

Just gotta love Jones in the Winter. A little gut looking towards Bayou Vista from in front of Fatboys....and I made it!

I'm definently game for a mothership-kayak fishing trip. Let me know and I'll try to get some time off. My job is pretty flexible about taking off a weekday on occasion. Shoot, I'm down for any yak fishing.

I've heard that harborwalk was private. That sucks as it would open up the area around Greens to kayaking without having a marathon paddle from Louis or the S. shore.

Bad news....Teakwood ramp is closed now. :mad5:

Good news..... there is a ramp across the street from my place at tiki if you can squeeze in.

Best news...... I know a dozen ways to get you thrown out of your house even if it's your aniversary. :D

You are not an expert until you can get it for an exact period to be decided by you. Then you truly walk among Masters. :D

I believe what he was referring to early was seeing a few yakers launch at harborwalk... Now, what that is referring to is the bridge on the road going to harborwalk.. You can park on the side of the road by the bridge and launch yaks there.. I know quite a few yakkers that launch there and kill the redfish
