Just received this from Pirates Home Owners Association...

"Attached are pictures showing where the GLO 4.5 elevation line (proxy for
the vegetation line) runs across our commuinty. According to the GLO if
any part of your house is landward of the line, the entire house is
considered landward. This elevation line should allow some homeowners to
get permits now for re-building."

The Chronicle ran an article in regards to this today also. I feel sorry for those people owning those houses ANYWHERE near that line. AP and I drove around yesterday looking at the beach front homes and another area whipped bad is around Terramar, Sea Isle, Bay Harbor et al front of the Rusty Hook. High tides bring the water right up to 3005 in alot of places. One more hit and the State is gonna have to figure out what to do with 3005.

Take a look at the Ike Photos of Beach Comber Estates... and of Palm Beach you can get and idea of the damage just after Ike and before cleanup even started.

3005 needs to be elevated and has needed it for a long time. The two lagoons up by Woody's are still open to the gulf at high tide. That's where it floods first and blocks egress.
3005 IS in better shape than the Bluewater Hwy.

I agree... Pretty soon we will no longer be called the West End Anglers but the West Galveston Anglers :D
