I was wondering if anyone could help me out and tell me where there is some good places that i can wade fish. The thing is i dont have a boat and i want a place where i can drive to so i can wade fish. It would be very helpful if ya can tell me some places... thank you :)

Danas Cove and Sportsmans Road are 2 of the best winter time walk in spots that I know of. Danas Cove is my favorite of the two. Danas is located by the Galveston State Park.

Go to the end of Sportsman's Rd and you can walk out into the bay or back into the marsh and fish both. You can catch reds, trout and flounder.
Dana's is a cove and is similar.

2 feet if that... You'll be driving along the marsh as your driving down Sportsman (8 Mile RD)

Right there. Jumbile cove is also good. Seabrook is a very good winter spot if you don't like to drive that far every time.

Right there. Jumbile cove is also good. Seabrook is a very good winter spot if you don't like to drive that far every time.

I've always heard about Seabrook flats, but never have tried it. How do you get there and where do you park? What have you caught there? I live in Clear Lake, so that sure would be convenient and cheap as opposed to taking the boat out.

The lures I usually stick to are bass assassins.. plum or black works good, super spook jrs, she dogs and corkys along with corky devils..

Snake Island cove is a good walk in cove, east of SEA ISLE. You can park at the east side where the pier use to be. Only pilings now. Wade towards the shell snake island. Work shallow the deep zig-zagging until you find fish. It's one of the 5 big trout winter coves. Welcome to the site !! :)

Trout, reds, flounder. I fish them all year. Seems like in the summer there loaded with smaller fish. Ive done good in them in the winter/spring. I know they produce in the fall I just dont get to fish in the fall that much.

Hey plugger? Is it safe to park around the old pier in Sea Isle without being towed?I used to have permission as a guest of several homeowners but they have moved since.I havn't fished the area except for boat in a couple of years.Thanks,Christopher.I'n not trying to post up there every weekend but do miss the easy wade in.

Oh yeah, you can park at the pier parking area without a worry. I see people parked and fishing from the bank or wade fishing and I know they are not residents. :)

Get a couple of Top Spots or is it Hot Spots local bay maps. They are well marked. There's also a book about walk-in spots along the coast, but I don't know the name. Seems like the guy that wrote it is named Ray.......maybe!

Just picked up that "walk-in spots" book the other day from FTU on the Gulf Freeway. This one is the newest one (I believe) and it is titled "Wade & Kayak Fishing on the Upper Coast of Texas" by Ray Crawford. You can also check his site at http://www.texascoastalfishingbooks.com/uppercoastbook.html, but do buy the book as it is a wealth of information.

Hey good to see another Red Raider around...the longhorns are pretty natural at finding fat girls so they've got some good fishing advise...but if you want to have some fun i'll be back down by tomorrow...let me know if you want to fish....

Sit out around Dana's / Carancahua cove on a winter "big trout" tournament day to see where the best trophy trout fishing might be. Could run into some people that you know around there. ;)

Ray's book is a good one. Mid Coast book is good too. FTU had some of the books or you can talk with Ray and he will mail you one the last time I talked with him.

Might look on TKF for sale under used kayaks if you wanted to find a used kayak. Some of the best prices has been around Christmas time. Figure 60% really good and 70% good prices off of retail cost for used kayaks. TKF is a big site for kayakers. Easy to rig one and everyone does it differently.
