don't know how to set up a poll, but would like a rough idea of how ya'll feel about the DH and instant replay in the game of baseball. personally i'm against the DH and for instant replay. i think the pitcher is a team member and should bat-- just as the rules were originally laid out. and i'm tired of the umpires changing the natural flow of the game with bad calls and not having to face any penalty for doing so.

I am against the DH. It's not baseball. As for instant replay, I am for it in limited use. Baseball moves slow enough that I wouldn't want to see them checking balls and strikes and slow things down even more. I don't mind it the way they use it now, but baseball is filled with examples of human error (i.e. umpires) changing the game. It's part of the history. I hate it when it goes against my team, but don't seem to mind so much when it goes for us....

Big baseball fan and so I like seeing the pitcher hit also because you have to determine who's coming up to hit in the next half inning and whether or not you want to leave your pitcher in to face him...just seems to have more "strategery".
As for instant replay there is nothing instant about it. I dont mind help with the home run call like we have now but leave it at that. Human error is a part of the game. Believe me when I say that umps HATE screwing up a call and there is NO way they should be penalized for making a bad call. They get 99 right for every one wrong. Heck I uped all through school to uck up extra money and iot is hard work...I can't imagine how hard at the show! We always remember the wrong ones...never do you hear someone say how great the blues were on balls and strikes. This is extremely hard. Try calling a high 80's mph slider or a low and away fast ball biting the corner at 95. Hitters cant hit them because it is too hard to see...well guess what...it's hard to see!
As soon as we take the human element out of the game it begins to lose the game itself...

I grew up playing baseball all the way through college...the DH is a tough one. On one side it extends careers...legendary players get years added to their stats because of the DH...for instance Edgar Martinez of the Seattle Mariners..Harold Baines Chicgao White Sox..David Ortiz Boston Red Sox...Jim Thome numerous teams...and there re many more. There is an argument for those guys...and it helps add to the excitement of the game. Lord knows that the average person says that baseball is boring already imagine if both leagues let the pitchers hit. I believe the leagues should be equal...either both have the DH or both let the pitchers hit. The National League managers have to do more managing and swapping postions so they are at an advantage come playoff time. Make it a level playing field.
As for instant replay I am for it...there are ways to speed the game up to compensate for it. Use instant replay on calls that can be clearly made right visually via instant replay...keep balls and strikes as they are. The idea is to eliminate human error as much as possible...why else would instant replay exist in football? Why not right a wrong? Human error is only a part of the game becasue technology wouldn't allow for anything else...in this age of technology we should take advantage of it. What I don't understand is the time it takes some of these replay officials to make a call. I watch alot of football and baseball and sometimes a cut and dry call that gets replayed takes 5 minutes to get a decision...sometimes I wonder what they are looking at. Just make the call as you see it.

The DH is horse$%!#. Replay doesn't bother me. Get the call right.
