Axle is in alert state on ole FlatBottom so I stopped by three different trailer shops and a galvanized axle on the shelf is something of the past. Come to find out sportsman trailer were built to their own standards (length wise), so an axle would have to be custom built even trying to go to a Dexter torsion axle would take 6 to 8 wks for the factory.
Geez, I told the guy that's like saying next year in fishing terms.!! lol
So, back to the parts store to buy all of the parts and build it myself. If you want it done right, do it yourself!
So Cgonzalez21 and I will be in the fab shop tonight instead of fishing the lights. dang!

Mcclain on I-10 in houston has quite a big inventory in stock. Horizon in Galveston can have you a cool new torsion axle built in under a week as well.

I broke a axle last weekend. Decided to go ahead and replace both, there 10 years old.
I stopped by Mcclain on Wed with the broke axle, the guy took a few measurements, he said he would call me friday when they were ready. Well he called me yesterday. Im picking up 2 axles with springs today.

Well here is the outcome.
Triple D wouldn't answer his phone, Horizon said special order on the torsion so 6 to 8 wks, Husky referred me to McClain. So I was buying all the parts galv, hubs, galv. springs, yatta yatta. Figured it up and realized it was going to be 350 in parts or 400 for them to make it. Well didn't take me long to think about that, I pick it up Tuesday!
Thanks again for all the info.
A Good welder is hard to come by. haha

Wow just got the call that the axle is ready. Wow
They told me Tuesday, and if I would have known it was only going to take an hour, I would have waited around.
Yikes

Baptists? Keep away from my Episcopal service here in Titlum-Tatlum. We drink and dance and such. :)
Glad to hear things turned out. It's a shame Sportsman shut down, but I knew things were in trouble when I had my trailer for the Ugly Mudda re-done there. They scrod it up twice, overcharged me, and scrod it up again . They finally made it right, but I was in the 14 foot backup skiff for over a month. They finally gave me everything for free there were so many screw ups. I protested saying I didn't want it for free, but they insisted. A year or so later they shut their doors. I remember when a Sportsman Trailer was a status symbol in La. If you had one, you had arrived. Everyone wanted one. Sad indeed.
